Primary Integration

Between the bruises and the cuts
There is that untouched patch of skin
That somehow resisted
Damage
And perhaps I sound nuts
But I think that maybe that patch glows a bit more
Than it would have
Without the contrast of the contusions
Like an eternity of silence
The perfect parts of us are dull and lifeless

Positive disintegration
The beauty in the tension
That causes the strings to sing
With only a brush against them
The shattered mirror reflects
Light in a million directions
And I’m lost in all these recollections
These broken fragments that I am made of
An ocean still
With no waves to the beat the earth with violence
The perfect parts of us are dull and lifeless

All these existential choices
That send us down these jagged paths
Somewhat damaged but more beautiful
These cuts draw a richer shade of red
Creates an experience more poetic
Would you choose a life
Free from strife instead?

My days have lost their shine
If pain has disappeared
If light has now consumed me
The dark lost in the brightness
The perfect parts of us are dull and lifeless
